Elementary School Social Worker

The Elementary School Social Worker will provide comprehensive school social work services to parents, students, and school staff, addressing barriers that limit a student's ability to receive a full benefit from their educational experience.
Key Responsibilities- Provide one-on-one counseling and group counseling with at-risk youth
- Refer students to behavioral health services and follow up on referrals
- Act as a liaison between the school and families and/or other community services
- Interview students and parents to discuss issues related to non-attendance and develop a plan of action
- Assist the school and district in following school board regulations for excessive absences and truancy
- Attend student support team meetings and court intervention
- Assist with producing high levels of student achievement and learning through rigorous and engaging social work program classes
- Provide group and family counseling, crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and violence prevention
- Conduct social service assessments and provide case management
- Review student records to identify previous barriers and/or interventions
- Attend and participate in manifestation meetings
- Develop and implement professional development training for educational staff and parents
- Provide individual and/or group counseling in response to school-wide crisis
- Participate in professional development activities aimed at current trends and best practices for the provision of comprehensive school social work services
- Conduct home visits as a method to access the family and conduct interviews in response to school referrals
- Maintain an ongoing liaison with community agencies and other resources to meet student needs; refer parents and students to agencies when appropriate
- Promote respect for diversity in the school and community environment
- Engage in dialogue with other decision makers to improve social work services
- Adhere to procedures that align with federal, state, and local policy to ensure integrity of confidential student and/or school records
- Travel to multiple schools, as needed
The Social Worker will be part of a team including social workers and nurses providing medical and mental health care to students at Einstein Charter Schools.
Requirements- Possess a proven track record in developing and managing successful social work programs
- Three years successful social work experience required
- Minimum of a Master's Degree required
- Licensed Clinical or Master Social Worker (LCSW) (LMSW) or Professional Counselor (LPC), licensed in the state of Louisiana
- Possess knowledge of federal, state, and local social work guidelines
