Key Responsibilities:
Drees Homes is currently seeking candidates for the role of Cost Analyst within our Houston Division. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals eager to build a career with a leading name in the homebuilding sector. The primary objective of this role is to manage all tasks related to costing, estimating, pricing, and cost analysis of residential properties.

Essential Duties:

  • Generate precise estimates and purchase orders for all materials promptly while ensuring accuracy.
  • Employ estimating software to confirm take-offs and address any discrepancies.
  • Continuously update and maintain vendor bid pricing.
  • Collaborate closely with vendors and subcontractors to foster effective communication and resolve issues swiftly.
  • Secure necessary permits before initiating construction and cultivate positive relationships with municipal authorities.
  • Compile and distribute job packets to the field upon completion of estimates.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proficient computer skills, particularly in Excel; familiarity with On Screen Take Off and BlueBeam is advantageous.
  • Analytical mindset, detail-oriented, team player, self-sufficient, confident, and effective communicator.
  • Background in Construction Management, Construction Technology, Accounting, or a related field is preferred.
  • Ability to interpret bid sets and architectural plans, along with constructing cost estimates.
  • Experience in conducting bid analysis is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and a visual learning approach.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Proactive problem solver with ownership of projects.
  • Experience in a construction-related role is beneficial.
  • Prior experience in homebuilder estimating is a plus.

Work Schedule:
This position typically follows a Monday to Friday schedule from 8 AM to 5 PM, with additional hours as needed.
