Key Responsibilities of the Critical Care Nurse Educator:
- Deliver specialized clinical knowledge and skills, serving as a mentor and resource for nursing personnel.
- Act as a clinical reference for staff, integrating relevant research findings into practice.
- Evaluate the clinical competencies and educational needs of nursing staff.
- Collaborate with leadership and nursing preceptors to assess and foster professional development among nursing staff.
- Contribute to the formulation of policies, procedures, and standards of care pertinent to clinical practice.
- Oversee the educational initiatives for staff, including orientation, care standards, and competency assessments, along with ongoing education and in-service training for the nursing department.
- Design, plan, and execute a criteria-based staff development program tailored to the clinical requirements of the nursing team.
- Engage with other hospital departments to facilitate educational programs and projects addressing current health issues for staff and the community.
- Play an active role in the planning, execution, and assessment of continuing education and patient education initiatives, along with other educational projects as needed.
- Participate in departmental and interdisciplinary meetings and programs to adapt to evolving trends in patient care delivery.
- Contribute to unit-specific performance improvement initiatives and address knowledge gaps identified through monitoring efforts.
Qualifications:
- A strong passion for Nursing Education.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Critical Care RN.
- Experience in leadership or nursing education is preferred.
- Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program is required.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is mandatory.
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) is preferred, with consideration for candidates currently enrolled in an MSN program.
- Licensure: Must possess a New York Registered Nurse (RN) License & Registration.
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications are required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification is strongly preferred.
- Preferred Certifications: CEN, TNCC; Instructor certifications for BLS, ACLS, and PALS are advantageous.
Compensation:
The salary range for this position is $107,250.00 to $128,700.00 per year. This range is an estimate and actual compensation will be influenced by various factors including qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience. The stated salary does not encompass any differential pay or additional compensation that may apply to this role, nor does it include the value of benefits.
