We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Manager to lead our HR First Line Controls Management team. Key Responsibilities- Design and implement a best-in-class HR controls environment that ensures effective risk management and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Lead the development and implementation of HR business controls, leveraging best practices and industry standards to establish a strong first line of defense.
- Collaborate with senior leaders to drive a risk-smart culture and manage corporate initiatives in partnership with our 2nd line risk and 3rd line audit teams.
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with HR vendors, ensuring compliance with our business continuity, controls, and risk standards.
- Provide decision support and make key decisions that provide strategic direction for business controls.
- Coach, guide, and develop a team of HR controls/risk professionals, providing guidance, training, and motivation to develop employees.
- Maintain an expert level of Vanguard and industry knowledge, keeping current on Vanguard policies and objectives, and expanding knowledge of the business and industry.
- Minimum of ten years related work experience, with supervisory experience preferred.
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience, with a graduate degree preferred.
- Experience building and implementing a controls or risk program.
- Change management: ability to lead through transitions and transformations, aligning the organization's people and culture with changes in business strategy, organizational structure, technology, and business processes.
- Strategic thinking: working through ambiguity, seeing the big picture, and identifying future possibilities.
- Persuasion and influence: understanding the importance of insightful listening and providing information and messages that produce clarity and impact.
- Results orientation: setting high personal standards of excellence and continuously looking for ways to improve performance.
- Collaboration: listening and exuding confidence to effectively interact with internal partners, including HR teams, Legal, Finance, IT, and Data and Analytics.

- Developing talent: proactively engaging external talent, building, and nurturing internal talent, empowering individuals, and managing diverse teams to drive engagement and performance.
