Research Communications Specialist

We're seeking an experienced communications professional to join our team as a Research Communications Specialist. This role will involve developing and implementing external communication strategies to inform the press, stakeholders, and the general public about our scientific research.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with research teams to amplify the impact of our research
- Forge deep relationships with relevant media and manage inbound requests regarding internal and external research
- Partner cross-functionally with teams including research, product, global affairs, and other teams at OpenAI
- Provide counsel and support to team members across the organization
- Anticipate comms risks and establish risk mitigation strategies
- Over 12 years of experience in professional communications and media relations
- Expertise in science and AI research communications with a proven record in scientific campaigns
- Ability to simplify complex research into clear, engaging content for both experts and the general public
- Demonstrated success in forging strong relationships and collaborating with the press, executives, and other key stakeholders
