Job Summary

The Interim Director of IT will collaborate with executive leaders and department heads as a strategic partner to provide in-depth technical expertise to support business decisions and IT initiatives.

The Interim Director of IT will lead the day-to-day IT operations and project delivery and is responsible for driving implementation of best practices for optimizing infrastructure and operation costs.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and operationalize Information Technology strategies; recommend short- and long-term IT goals and objectives aligned to strategic priorities to executive leadership.
  2. Provide strategic advice to key leaders and division/department heads on all technology matters.
  3. Ensure a focus on business alignment within the IT function, be accountable for outcomes, and continuous improvement; drive change and innovation while balancing business, infrastructure, and technology needs.
  4. Help mitigate risks in business continuity and cyber security.
  5. Ensure key business strategies and processes are supported by technology systems that enable growth and flexibility.
  6. Provide leadership and guidance to IT department to achieve secure, reliable, and cost-effective operations of IT infrastructure and applications.
  7. Seek and evaluate emerging technologies and educate stakeholders on the potential for new technologies to deliver return on investment by enabling business innovation, efficiency, and competitive advantage.
  8. Lead and mentor a team of IT professionals, leading them to meet or exceed expectations for productivity, quality, and achievement.
  9. Oversee and manage capital projects to ensure target dates and budget expectations are met.
  10. Ensure service-level requirements are met while upholding all governance standards.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 8+ years of relevant work experience with most recent experience consisting of leading an organization's IT operations, systems, and teams.
  • Ability to translate complex technical terminology, concepts, and issues in terms understandable to technical and non-technical team members as well as executive level audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to resolve problems in a professional manner as well as participate in working groups.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities as well as establish and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability as well as willingness to create documentation of activities, processes, and procedures.
  • Maintains a customer service mindset both to internal staff and stakeholders.
Education

Bachelor's degree in IT or related field.

Job Type

Contractor/109- Approximately 20 hours/week.

This is a hybrid remote opportunity that will require occasional on-site work in Bedford County, VA.
