Job Summary

The Cincinnati, OH VA Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (Computed Tomography) to join our Imaging Services team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing computed tomography (CT) scans and other imaging procedures to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.

Responsibilities
  • Operate CT scanners and other imaging equipment to obtain high-quality images for diagnostic purposes.
  • Position patients and select technical factors to ensure accurate and safe imaging procedures.
  • Explain imaging procedures to patients and answer questions to alleviate fears and obtain maximum cooperation.
  • Enter patient information into the computerized radiology information system (CRIS) and transmit images to the picture archiving and communication system (PACS).
  • Perform routine x-ray examinations of all areas of the body, including skull, spine, abdomen, and extremities.
  • Assist with special procedures, such as CT angiography and CT myelography, under the supervision of a radiologist.
  • Maintain competence in venipuncture and follow established protocols for contrast material administration.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to imaging services.
Requirements
  • Graduate of a radiologic technology program accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT).
  • Registered in radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • One year of experience as a radiologic technologist, with at least six months of experience in computed tomography.
  • Advanced ARRT certification in computed tomography (CT) is required.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to provide high-quality patient care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information.
Working Conditions

This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. The technologist must be able to lift and move patients, as well as stand for long periods. The work environment is typically quiet, but may be noisy during imaging procedures. The technologist must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow established infection control protocols.
