Medical Expert for VA Disability Assessments
7 days ago
We are seeking a highly skilled Physiatrist to join our team as an Independent Medical Evaluator for the US Department of Veterans Affairs.
This role involves conducting medical assessments on United States Veterans as part of the disability benefits process. As a Physiatrist, you will review medical health records through a secure web portal and perform comprehensive assessments on each veteran.
Your responsibilities will include completing Disability Benefit Questionnaires (DBQs) through the web portal, which are condition-specific forms created by the VA. You will document exam findings needed by the VA, but please note that you will NOT make disability determinations - this is the responsibility of the VA.
This position is not a treating role, and your primary focus will be on providing assessments. The average pay for this role is $1,200-$1,400 per day, with an estimated 4 veterans assessed per day on average.
To succeed in this role, you should be interested in performing independent medical assessments rather than traditional patient care and treatment. You should also be proficient at finding key data points within large electronic medical records and able to analyze data from these records to complete DBQs and form medical opinions.
A strong typing skills and ability to stay organized and manage your time effectively are essential for this role. You must submit completed DBQs within 24 hours after an exam.
The ideal candidate will have a current license as a Physiatrist, be Board Certified in either Neurological Surgery, PM&R, or Psychiatry and Neurology, and meet the credentialing requirements set forth by the VA.
This is an excellent opportunity to serve Veterans in their community while working as an Independent Medical Evaluator.
