Position Title: Nutrition Education Facilitator (Adult)

Location: Petersburg, Virginia

Job Overview:
The Nutrition Education Facilitator (Adult) plays a crucial role in supporting caregivers of young children and other individuals with limited resources. This position focuses on promoting healthier eating habits and maximizing nutrition while minimizing food costs. The facilitator will work collaboratively with various organizations to combat nutrition insecurity by equipping families with practical skills that lead to informed shopping, nutritious eating, and increased physical activity.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Recruit, enroll, and instruct adult participants in both individual and group settings, utilizing in-person, phone, or video-conferencing methods.
  • Deliver educational content on essential topics such as food resource management, nutrition, food preparation, and physical activity.
  • Engage with local agencies and organizations that serve limited-resource families, promoting the program and collecting evaluation data.
  • Travel regularly to conduct in-person educational sessions and foster community partnerships.

Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Strong written, verbal, and listening communication skills.
  • Experience in teaching or conveying information effectively.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations, particularly those from varied racial, ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, demonstrating respect and dignity in all interactions.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to responsibilities.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain organized records.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with community resources and social service programs for limited-resource families.
  • Experience with federal nutrition assistance programs.

Additional Information:
  • Regular travel within the locality is expected to provide educational programs and build partnerships.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including Word, Excel, and video-conferencing tools.
  • Physical ability to lift and transport educational materials and supplies.
