As a Patient Experience Coordinator, you will be the welcoming face for patients entering our healthcare facilities. Your primary responsibilities will encompass patient check-ins, appointment scheduling assistance, telephone communication, processing co-payments, and managing follow-up appointments as necessary. Exceptional customer service, empathy, and compassion are essential attributes for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome patients and visitors, ensuring accurate information and signatures are collected for office records.
- Secure necessary signatures on all relevant forms related to the patient's visit from authorized individuals.
- Photocopy and scan insurance cards and identification documents.
- Comply with all confidentiality policies and procedures.
- Respond to phone calls promptly and accurately, taking messages and directing calls professionally.
- Retrieve and file medical correspondence, reports, and other documents as requested.
- Collect payments, issue receipts, and reconcile daily accounts receivable to prepare for deposits.
- Proactively seek to enhance quality and customer service, striving to exceed patient expectations.
- Uphold and demonstrate UnityPoint Health's values and standards for personal and service excellence.
- Open and close the clinic according to established protocols.
- Refer patients requiring financial assistance to a Financial Advocate.
- Perform additional duties as assigned based on operational needs.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent vocational training.
- Previous experience in a medical office setting is preferred.
- Strong customer service capabilities.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Ability to comprehend and apply relevant guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for interaction with healthcare professionals, patients, and support staff.
- Effective communication abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Patient-centered focus.
- Familiarity with medical terminology is advantageous.
