Job Summary

The Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist is a critical member of the Imaging Service team, responsible for performing urgent and emergent radiographic examinations. This role requires a high level of technical expertise, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform radiographic examinations using various modalities, including X-ray, CT, and MRI
  • Position patients accurately and safely to ensure high-quality images
  • Operate and maintain imaging equipment, including X-ray machines and fluoroscopic units
  • Administer contrast media and other medications as required
  • Monitor patient vital signs and report any changes to the radiologist
  • Provide clinical instruction to radiology technician students
  • Perform routine maintenance on imaging equipment and troubleshoot technical issues
  • Review and implement new developments in the field to improve imaging services
Requirements
  • Completion of a full-time training course in diagnostic radiologic technology, accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT)
  • Certification in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology, Radiography (ARRT)
  • Advanced certification in computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), or mammography (M) duties, as applicable
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology, including the location, appearance, and function of major systems
  • Knowledge of radiographic exposure techniques, including use of formulae for determining technical factors
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • One or more years of experience in radiologic technology
  • Experience with portable equipment and C-Arm fluoroscopic equipment
  • Ability to provide clinical instruction to radiology technician students
Working Conditions

The Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist works in a fast-paced imaging environment, requiring the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively. The role involves standing for long periods, lifting heavy equipment, and working in a sterile environment.
