Position Overview:

The Revenue Cycle Coordinator is essential in facilitating effective financial management within Minnesota Mental Health Clinics (MMHC). This role encompasses supporting the integrated delivery of MMHC's behavioral health services, including outpatient therapy, intensive outpatient programs, targeted case management, and medication management.

In this position, you will collaborate with a team of dedicated professionals managing approximately 500 client accounts. Your responsibilities will include verifying and coordinating client benefits, preparing and reviewing invoices, liaising with health plans regarding authorizations and appeals, and ensuring timely collection of payments from clients.

Key Responsibilities:

Collaboration with Health Plans on Eligibility, Authorization, and Appeals:

  • Gathering client coverage details and confirming eligibility for service provision.
  • Facilitating communication with health plans to secure necessary prior authorizations for provided services.
  • Assisting in the preparation and submission of appeals for denied claims or authorization requests, in line with payer-specific guidelines.
  • Keeping abreast of insurance regulations and reimbursement policies to ensure compliance and optimize revenue capture.

Invoice Review and Creation:

  • Generating and submitting claims to insurance providers and other third-party payers in accordance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Identifying and promptly rectifying billing errors or discrepancies to minimize revenue loss.
  • Working closely with clinical and administrative teams to address billing-related questions and enhance billing processes.

Client Account Coordination:

  • Monitoring accounts receivable and proactively following up on outstanding client balances.
  • Assisting clients in establishing payment plans in accordance with MMHC policies.
  • Tracking accounts receivable and following up on outstanding insurance balances.
  • Accurately processing payments received from clients, insurance companies, and other third-party payers.
  • Utilizing advanced billing software systems to manage payment transactions and reconcile accounts receivable.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 1 year of direct experience in medical billing and revenue cycle management within the healthcare sector.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard billing software systems.
  • Knowledge of mental health billing codes (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS) and insurance billing regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective interaction with patients, insurance companies, and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively in a dynamic healthcare environment.
