Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Refrigeration Systems Technician to join our team at New Earth Compost. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for the operation, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of our ammonia-based refrigeration systems, HVAC stand-alone rack systems, and boiler and hot water systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate, test, troubleshoot, and repair ammonia-based refrigeration systems, their sub-systems, and ancillary processes and equipment.
  • Operate, test, troubleshoot, and repair rack-mounted, stand-alone gas refrigerant HVAC units.
  • Operate, test, troubleshoot, and repair boiler and hot water systems, their sub-systems, and ancillary equipment.
  • Perform regular maintenance on refrigeration, HVAC, boiler, and hot water systems.
  • Maintain the integrity of engine and utility rooms in accordance with established best practices.
  • Rebuild ammonia, HVAC, boiler, and hot water system components in accordance with technical manuals.
  • Complete all applicable documentation, including PSM-related modifications, Work Orders, and refrigeration system operation notes.
  • Adhere to all Environmental Management Systems/ISO 14001 practices and procedures.
  • Adhere to all Company policies, including safety, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's).
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of related experience and/or training.
  • Ability to work in a team environment or individually with little or no supervision.
  • Ability to comply with all Company SAFETY rules, GMP's, and PSM regulations.
Working Conditions

Frequently requires standing, lifting, walking, reaching, stooping, bending, smelling, listening, speaking, and seeing to perform essential job duties. Work conditions vary, and flexibility is critical. Temperatures range from 30 to 50 degrees in processing departments. Exposure to potentially dangerous machinery and equipment is present in the plant. Potential electrical, mechanical, and chemical hazards are also present. The noise level is high and constant. Floors are damp and slick.

Must be able to bend, stoop, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs., and to stand for long periods of time.
