Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Intern to join our team at Mount Sinai Hospital. As a Pharmacy Intern, you will play a critical role in supporting the pharmacy team in ensuring the safe and efficient dispensing of medications to patients.

Responsibilities
  • Prepackage and label medications, fill unit dose cassettes, and assist in the maintenance of records associated with these functions.
  • Audit the records of controlled substances, ensuring compliance with hospital, state, and federal regulations as directed by a pharmacist, manager, or director.
  • Advise nursing and pharmacy managers of discrepancies, assist in discrepancy resolution, and maintain the files of all completed controlled drug records.
  • Issue controlled substances and prescription pads as per departmental policy under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Process controlled substances returns and receive product into inventory.
  • Ensure appropriate inventory on hand at all times and maintain required balances.
  • Assist in discrepancy resolution.
  • Obtain appropriate signatures when issuing/delivering controlled substances and prescription pads.
  • Maintain a file of all receipts for the 24-hour period prior to the return of the disposition records.
  • Maintain an accurate, current census, including cassette bin labels, for all assigned areas.
Requirements
  • NYS Pharmacy intern permit required.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • English proficiency (oral and written).
  • Previous hospital experience or graduate of Technician Training Program preferred.
