Key Responsibilities- Design and Development: Lead the design and development of electrical engineering assignments that impact Avista's hydroelectric power generation assets.
- Electrical Equipment Specification: Specify, evaluate, and purchase electrical equipment such as AC and DC panelboards, switchgear, motor control centers, batteries, chargers, UPS systems, generators, auxiliaries, transformers, breakers, busbar, cabling, and balance of plant systems.
- Generation Station Design: Lead, create, modify, and review generation station design, drawings, including one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, protection and control schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, physical layouts, and construction details.
- Field Engineering and Commissioning: Provide field engineering and commissioning support during construction, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
- Electrical Studies: Perform and review electrical studies, including load, short circuit, low voltage protection, and arc flash.
- Project Management: Manage engineering projects and issues of increasing complexity, size, and number.
- Business Development: Develop creative solutions and build business cases to implement those solutions.
- Technical Support: Respond to technical data requests from utility commissions or other agencies.
- Mentorship: Mentor other engineers and/or those looking to enter the engineering profession.
- Education: Bachelor of Science in an ABET-accredited engineering program.
- Professional Engineering License: Possess a professional engineering license.
- Experience: Minimum of eight (8) years of engineering work experience.
- Skills: Demonstrated skills illustrating the use of productivity, presentation, and analytical tools specific to the area of expertise.
- Leadership: Demonstrated technical leadership within engineering.
- Communication: Effective and flexible communication skills.
- Knowledge: Advanced knowledge, skills, technical proficiency, and abilities as demonstrated by a professional engineering license.
- Specialty Technical Proficiency: Specialty technical proficiency, project leadership, and ability to be self-directed.
