General Summary: The Staff Attorney will be responsible for conducting comprehensive legal research, analysis, and providing strategic recommendations on legal and environmental matters pertinent to Rainbow Energy Center and its subsidiaries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Consult with the executive leadership on the legal implications of proposed policies and procedures.
- Manage and resolve disputes and litigation effectively.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts along with various legal documents.
- Collaborate with the executive team on tax, legislative, regulatory, and compliance issues, advocating for the organization's interests.
- Oversee all significant legal matters, including contracts, leases, risk management, and corporate governance.
- Supervise external legal counsel engaged to provide specialized services.
- Negotiate legal issues on behalf of the organization and its affiliates.
- Safeguard the organization’s rights in dealings with external entities.
- Conduct thorough factual and legal research and analysis.
- Remain informed about relevant environmental regulations to ensure compliance with legal standards and best practices.
- Protect the intellectual property rights of the organization.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field is required, along with a Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school. An active license to practice law and/or membership in the state Bar is essential. A background in corporate legal work is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Exceptional negotiation and critical thinking skills, along with strong interpersonal abilities.
- Experience in managing outsourced legal services for cost efficiency.
- Familiarity with key legal issues relevant to Rainbow Energy Center.
- Proficient in negotiating, researching, and effectively communicating both verbally and in writing.
- Attention to detail and adaptability in a dynamic environment.
- Strong management and organizational capabilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively while adhering to safety protocols.
- Responsibility for ensuring compliance with security procedures, including timely reporting of potential incidents.
Working Conditions:
In this role, employees will typically be required to sit for extended periods, engage in walking and standing, communicate both in person and via telephone, and utilize standard office equipment. Vision requirements include the ability to focus on close and distant objects. The work environment is generally quiet to moderate, with occasional exposure to loud sounds and distractions.
