Senior Municipal Engineer

Apex Engineering Group is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Municipal Engineer to lead our municipal services in North Dakota. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing and growing our municipal services in the region, developing and executing revenue goals, and collaborating with other sector leaders to pursue new project and client opportunities.
Key Responsibilities- Manage client relationships and discuss potential project opportunities, RFPs, and contract reviews.
- Establish and maintain strategic partnerships to win work and deliver quality municipal and infrastructure design and construction services.
- Collaborate with sector leaders on pursuits and staffing.
- Follow and maintain strategic plan initiatives and goals for the ND municipal sector and the company.
- Mentor project engineers in areas of contract development, project profitability, and risk management.
- Participate in business development and marketing activities related to municipal services with new and existing clients.
- Attend conferences and professional seminars to further Apex's mission to grow ND municipal services.
- Coordinate and direct project pursuit efforts by participating in prospecting, positioning, proposing, and performance for specific projects.
- Participate in municipal leadership team meetings.
- Responsible for hiring and recruiting strategic positions that meet company or sector growth goals.
- Utilize effective communication skills in settings such as public meetings and professional seminars.
- Responsible for providing financial and progress reports on ND municipal related operations.
- Keep abreast of the latest civil engineering technical advancements, technology, and concepts in the ND municipal market and make recommendations as appropriate.
- Understand and follow company employee handbook and mandated safety policies.
- Perform responsibilities in a conscientious, legal, and ethical manner with a strong attention to detail.
- Must be able to work independently and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team environment.
- Participate in professional organizations and community leadership programs.
- Travel and out-of-town stays may be required.
- This position may frequently require more than 40-hour work weeks.
- Other duties as assigned by the Municipal Sector Leader.
- A bachelor's degree in civil engineering, with 10+ years of municipal engineering experience and a minimum of 7 years project management experience, predominantly in the State of ND.
- A licensed engineer to practice engineering within the State of ND.
- Experience and working knowledge preferred in municipal engineering, construction, and public works/utilities in ND.
- Experience and working knowledge with public agencies located in North Dakota.
- Experience with developing business and managing personnel in the consulting engineering industry is preferred.
- Involvement in appropriate professional organizations beneficial to Apex and the municipal sector.
- Proficient using Microsoft Windows/Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
- Must be detail-oriented, self-motivated with strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- A valid driver's license is required or the ability to obtain one.
- Ability to operate a computer under normal ergonomic office conditions.
- Must be able to clearly articulate both verbal and written communications.
- Required to lift and move objects up to 25 pounds.
- May require prolonged periods of standing and walking to perform some of the typical tasks and duties.
- Must be able to work required and scheduled hours.
