Job Summary/Responsibilities
The Game Room Operations Assistant plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth functioning of the Game Room and Information Desk. Responsibilities include the management of game and equipment distribution, as well as delivering exceptional customer service. Adherence to established protocols and timeliness are essential in this position.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Facilitate the checkout of equipment to patrons following set guidelines.
2. Uphold Game Room and Student Union regulations.
3. Provide assistance with technical difficulties related to Game Room equipment, including televisions, consoles, computers, and controllers.
4. Oversee Game Room inventory and implement proper inventory management practices.
5. Act as information representatives, serving as the initial point of contact for visitors to the Student Union.

6. Offer guidance on programs, services, and activities available at the Student Union and throughout the campus, while fostering a friendly and inviting atmosphere in the Game Room.

7. Execute additional tasks as assigned by Student Union Professional Staff, Lead Game Room Assistant, or Building Manager.
8. Collaborate with other Student Union teams as needed, which may involve covering different workstations or assisting with event setups.
9. Report any incidents or injuries to Professional Staff or Building Managers.
10. Implement emergency response protocols when required.

11. Maintain communication with colleagues from other Student Union teams, such as Event and Guest Services, to coordinate support as necessary.

12. Adhere to the dress code by wearing close-toed shoes along with the provided staff t-shirt and nametag.

13. Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned, which may include assisting with programming elements for events such as Market Days and Game Room Programming.


Mandatory Paid Trainings Include:
New Hire Orientation (3-4 hours)
Semi-annual staff training prior to the start of the Fall semester
Ongoing role-specific training as scheduled by the supervisor
Physical Requirements:
Walking; Lifting up to 30 lbs; Pushing/Pulling; Reaching; Stooping/Kneeling/Crouching – Occasional: Up to 30%
Required Qualifications:
1. Ability to follow through on tasks until completion.
2. Capacity to take direction effectively.
3. Punctuality and reliability.
4. Positive demeanor and professional appearance.
5. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively with other Union staff.
6. Willingness to learn and adapt.
7. Flexible scheduling; availability to work weekdays, evenings, and weekends.
8. Current UNF Student with a minimum semester and cumulative GPA of 2.0.
9. Attendance at semi-annual staff training is mandatory.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with:
1. Student Union and Game Room services and offerings.
2. Video game consoles and audiovisual equipment.
3. Gaming culture, news, and technology.
