Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Training and Development Specialist I to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our employees receive the training and development they need to excel in their roles.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct facility and agency core and specialty competency-based training, including orientation, refresher, and local training requirements, using approved training curriculum and procedures.
  • Evaluate employee competencies and skills as outlined in policy and/or course requirements.
  • Document class attendance and participation using rosters, class assessments, and performance checklists.
  • Conduct post-orientation (on-the-job) training assessments and complete required documentation.
  • Demonstrate an awareness of safety and infection control practices to ensure safe work experiences.
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of training procedures and techniques, as well as adult education principles and practices.
  • Ability to provide effective and interesting instruction to large groups and in one-to-one situations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to teach and demonstrate skills related to assigned courses, such as CPR, Ukeru, and Safe Use of Restraints.
