Job Description

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our team at WhatJobs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in power electronics and a proven track record of designing high-power LED drivers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop high-power LED drivers from concept investigation to design analysis and production execution
  • Develop a great understanding of analog and power electronics, thermal, mechanical, and packaging challenges
  • Expertise in flyback, buck, boost, resonant, and PFC design topologies
  • Design custom magnetics and PCBs
  • Familiarity with PCB fabrication, assembly, and design challenges
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in board bring-up, soldering fine-pitched surface mount parts, and troubleshooting
  • Experience with global power supply EMI, safety, and environmental certifications, programmable instrumentation, and lighting controls configuration
  • Proven track record of experience with design for manufacturability methodologies to address production variances and high-volume manufacturing technology requirements
  • Comfortable with meeting aggressive performance, features, and cost goal requirements in a timely manner along with value-add value engineering (VA/VE) projects
  • Strong and effective communication skills across multiple time zones to interface with other R&D, manufacturing, sales, and marketing team members

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering with 8 years of R&D experience in power electronics
  • Must be flexible and able to work in a team-oriented environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Office, Excel, and Word
  • Experience programming embedded processors in C is a plus
  • Perform and assist work with customer Project Managers, Owners' Representatives, quality audit inspection staff, and outside contractors
  • SMT soldering, wiring, testing
  • Comply with all company and customer safety policies, without exception
  • Experience with offsite/remote manufacturing (China) is a plus
