Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Novant Health in Wilmington, NC. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality respiratory care to patients in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer a variety of simple and complex respiratory modalities, including emergency airway procedures, therapeutic gases, and medications.
  • Consult with medical director, referring physicians, and other healthcare professionals to develop, execute, and modify individualized treatment plans.
  • Record patient responses to treatment plans and test results on patient charts.
  • Clean and disinfect respiratory equipment and accessories.
  • Perform related duties, such as assisting physicians with special procedures.
  • Provide direct patient care to patients of all ages, including evaluation and treatment.
  • May perform moderate or waived point-of-care testing per CLIA guidelines.
  • Help guide and develop new initiatives, policies, equipment trials, or education sessions.
  • Must be ACLS certified and able to respond to code blue.
  • Will precept and orientate new employees and students.
  • Must be able to understand basic exercise principles and physiological responses to exercise in pulmonary patients.
  • Educate other members of the healthcare team, conduct in-services as assigned, and participate in continuing education.
