About the Job

This Nursing Assistant position is available at the Department of Veterans Affairs, VA Maine Healthcare System. The successful candidate will work in a dynamic and supportive environment, providing high-quality care to our nation's veterans.

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Nursing Assistant to join our team. As a Nursing Assistant, you will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse to provide direct patient care, assist with daily living activities, and maintain a safe and clean environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care, including bathing, dressing, and feeding
  • Assist with daily living activities, such as toileting, transferring, and ambulating
  • Monitor and report changes in patient condition to the Registered Nurse
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment, including cleaning and disinfecting equipment and surfaces
  • Assist with transporting patients to and from appointments and procedures
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • One year of experience as a Nursing Assistant or in a related field preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull patients and equipment as needed
