We are seeking a highly skilled Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Medical Oncology/Hematology team at Northwestern Medicine. This is a full-time, day shift position with no call, weekends, or holidays.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will provide high-quality patient care, conduct comprehensive appraisals of patients' health status, and develop appropriate educational systems for patients, families, and staff. They will also participate in quality improvement and research initiatives, and serve as a patient advocate and role model for "Patients First".

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive appraisals of patients' health status by taking health histories and performing physical examinations
  • Provide direct clinical care to patients, including prescribing medications, therapies, and ordering laboratory tests and procedures
  • Evaluate patients to determine their need for further health care and provide comprehensive teaching to patients and families
  • Document all care and education provided in the medical record
  • Refers to other disciplines as appropriate and consults with other disciplines in areas of expertise
Requirements:
  • Master's degree from an accredited school/college of nursing or master's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Program
  • Current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois and current license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois
  • Privileged and credentialed through the Northwestern Medicine Medical Staff Office (MSO)
  • Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation - BLS, issued by the American Heart Association
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2-5 years of APP experience in oncology or 5+ years of oncology experience as an RN
