Job Title: Development Engineer IV

Daikin Applied is seeking a highly skilled Development Engineer IV to lead the development of primary systems and sub-systems of Air-Cooled Chillers. As a key member of our engineering team, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and release cutting-edge chiller products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Technical System Development: Utilize engineering fundamentals to design and develop HVAC equipment, including heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and mechanical analysis.
  • Stage Gate Development: Contribute to a stage gate development process, reporting progress to upper management and ensuring timely product releases.
  • Subsystem Design and Integration: Lead the design and integration of compression refrigeration systems, fans, motors, mechanical drives, variable speed technologies, structural sheet metal, and refrigeration system piping.
  • Technical Direction: Provide guidance to create concepts and develop them into marketable products, working closely with CAD designers, advanced simulation teams, and manufacturing and supply chain personnel.
  • Manufacturing Support: Provide support for concept and prototype unit builds, laboratory testing, and agency and regulatory approval status for new products.
  • Technical Documentation: Produce documentation to support the marketing launch of new products and product options.
  • Mentorship: Mentor less experienced engineering staff and contribute to cost improvement goals, proposing new ideas and initiatives to increase product value.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred).
  • Minimum of 8+ years of related experience in HVAC, industrial process, or similar fields.
  • Detailed knowledge of engineering, preferably in the HVAC industry.
  • PC skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Basic skills with CAD applications, a plus.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
