Job Title: Transit Operations Coordinator

Department: Transportation Services

Reports to: Operations Superintendent

Compensation: $52,530

Note: This position is open exclusively to current employees.

JOB FUNCTION: Oversee the daily operational activities of transit services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Manage the field operations of the Transportation Services Department. Ensure timely and efficient service delivery within the designated area. Adjust schedules and routes as necessary to optimize performance.
  2. Utilize a two-way radio communication system as per regulatory standards. Inform Central Dispatch of any service disruptions, accidents, or passenger-related incidents. Conduct investigations into accidents and disputes.
  3. Continuously assess the effectiveness of service delivery methods to maintain operational efficiency and address any challenges.
  4. Monitor communication devices in the Dispatch Office.
  5. Respond to service calls related to fare collection issues and other operational challenges as required.
  6. Inspect transit facilities and equipment for maintenance needs, reporting any issues to the appropriate department.
  7. Assign transit operators to routes in a manner that is cost-effective and compliant with labor agreements.
  8. Prepare daily operational reports for the assigned area.
  9. Take on the responsibilities of Dispatchers as needed.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
  1. Assist passengers with inquiries regarding schedules, routes, and transfers, as well as address complaints.
  2. Supervise operations at transit hubs during special events.
  3. Distribute materials during adverse weather conditions when necessary.
  4. Undertake additional responsibilities as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High school diploma or GED required.

Experience:
  1. At least 2 years of supervisory experience; 3 years as a transit operator or equivalent experience in a related field is essential.
  2. Familiarity with the local transit route system and street network is required.
  3. Effective communication skills with colleagues, the public, management, and officials are necessary.
  4. A valid Class B driver's license with a P endorsement is mandatory.
  5. Proficiency in computer applications, including the TrackIt software and Microsoft Office, is required.
  6. Ability to accurately complete documentation related to incidents and operational matters.
  7. Willingness to work various shifts as assigned.
  8. Compliance with the company's Drug and Alcohol Policy is required.
  9. Commitment to safety protocols and practices is essential.
  10. Regular attendance is expected.
  11. Current employee performance records will be reviewed.
  12. Ability to interpret and enforce transit operator rules and regulations is necessary.
  13. Understanding of labor agreements is required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  1. This role requires extensive driving, necessitating the ability to sit for prolonged periods. Walking and standing are also part of the job.
  2. Physical tasks may include bending, stooping, kneeling, and climbing.
  3. Ability to lift up to 30 lbs., including overhead lifting as needed.
  4. Work may be performed in both office settings and outdoor environments, requiring adaptability to various weather conditions.
  5. Must be able to hear communications and follow visual instructions effectively.
  6. Proficiency in data entry and report generation is required.
