POSITION SUMMARY:

The Fiber Laser Development Technician plays a crucial role in the innovation and production of advanced fiber lasers tailored for medical, industrial, and specialized applications.

SUPERVISORY ROLE:

This position does not entail any supervisory responsibilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with the engineering team to enhance high-power fiber lasers aimed at medical product advancements.
  • Independently manage development projects as directed by engineering leadership.
  • Design and execute thorough testing and measurement protocols on optical components and lasers to verify adherence to design criteria.
  • Document the development workflow meticulously.
  • Gather and analyze data, presenting findings to team members effectively.
  • Assist in ongoing process refinement and prototype production.
  • Provide training and procedural guidance to facilitate the transition of newly developed products to manufacturing.
  • Uphold laser and chemical safety protocols in various laboratory and cleanroom environments.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Proficient computer skills and overall computer literacy.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, apply mathematical concepts, and utilize various precision measuring tools.
  • Capability to tackle complex assignments requiring significant judgment and initiative for problem-solving and recommendations.
  • Outstanding manual dexterity.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Adherence to laser safety standards and regulations.
  • High motivation with a keen attention to detail.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in fiber optics, particularly with lasers, is required.
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Physics, Engineering, or Optics is preferred.
  • Specialized knowledge in equipment controls, circuit design, database systems, and/or automation is advantageous.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to manipulate small components using fingers and hands.
  • Excellent vision is necessary for job performance.
  • Must be able to work with hazardous or corrosive chemicals.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 pounds.
