Your Role:
Are you ready to engage with a diverse and collaborative team dedicated to addressing urgent environmental threats and safeguarding public health? This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to our mission. For over 25 years, our experts have been instrumental in supporting federal initiatives aimed at environmental recovery and safety. Our office in the Atlanta area specializes in providing technical expertise in environmental consulting, engineering, regulatory compliance, sustainability, and the investigation and remediation of severely impacted sites across the Southeast. We also offer direct emergency preparedness and response support to federal agencies in the region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver technical assistance for preparedness, hazardous waste management, site investigations, and air quality monitoring.
- Plan and execute field events involving multimedia sampling and data collection, analyze results, and prepare comprehensive reports, including GIS-based work products.
- Collaborate effectively within a team and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Participate in emergency response on-call activities, with a commitment to respond within a mandatory timeframe.
- Travel periodically to manage or support field teams during environmental emergencies across the southern U.S.
- Facilitate effective communication with team members and clients, providing technical training and demonstrations as needed.
- Produce well-structured, accurate, and concise technical reports utilizing advanced MS Office applications.
- Proven knowledge and leadership in emergency response operations and environmental management.
- Experience in counter-terrorism, public health, fire/hazmat, and emergency planning is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with field environmental chemistry and hazardous material identification.
- Experience in executing work under various levels of personal protective equipment.
- Ability to mobilize quickly for emergency situations during a rotating on-call schedule.
- Proficient in using field equipment and conducting data collection with electronic documentation systems.
- Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to environmental response is preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- 40-hour OSHA training is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience as a first responder in environmental and hazardous materials situations is preferred.
- Advanced training in Incident Command System (ICS) is preferred.
A bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, physical science, ecology, sustainability, or a related field is required, along with a minimum of three years of experience in emergency response or environmental consulting.
Physical Demands:
This role may involve working in adverse weather conditions and lifting up to 50 lbs, along with the potential use of personal protective equipment, including respirators.
Work Environment:
Work may include hazardous site conditions requiring HAZWOPER and other specialized training.
