Role Summary:

As a vital member of the HITS Windows Hosting Services Team, you will oversee and optimize a vast array of over 3,300 Windows servers, both in physical and virtual environments (VMWare). Your role will encompass a variety of strategic initiatives, including cloud computing and migration, service offerings for research computing, clinical application support, and the development of automation and orchestration strategies. You will report directly to the Windows Hosting Services Team Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and maintain the Windows clinical and research server ecosystem, ensuring robust service offerings for mission-critical systems, both on-premises and in cloud environments.
  • Install and manage Windows server operating systems while providing support for software and services within both Windows and VMware infrastructures.
  • Oversee server infrastructure, including blade chassis, blade, and rack servers, along with their associated management services.
  • Develop scripts and tools to enhance functionality and automate routine management tasks.
  • Provide expert support for Windows systems in a 24x7 enterprise environment, focusing on OS server deployment, automation, security, and vulnerability management.
Qualifications:

Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Experience: A minimum of 7 years in managing and supporting extensive environments with Windows Enterprise Servers in complex, high-availability settings.

Technical Skills:

  • Expertise in Windows Server operating systems (2016, 2019, 2022).
  • Strong background in cloud infrastructure deployment and management.
  • Proficient in maintaining high-performance Windows systems.
  • Experience with server hardware management software.
  • Skilled in scripting with PowerShell or PowerCLI.
  • Familiarity with VMware virtual server environments and system configuration for optimal performance.
  • Experience in high availability clustered application/SQL environments from both build and operational perspectives.
  • Knowledge of SCCM and SCOM management.

Leadership and Soft Skills: Proven technical leadership with strong operating system administration skills, capable of maintaining a positive attitude in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Strong awareness of networking technologies as they relate to managing Windows systems and applications. Excellent project management capabilities and a solid understanding of security protocols.

Industry Experience: Experience in the health care sector is highly preferred.
