Certified Nursing Assistant

Care for patients in a hospital, nursing home, or other medical facility, as well as during transportation between facilities, under the direction of nursing and medical staff. Perform duties such as bathing, dressing, and undressing patients, collecting food trays, and feeding those who need assistance. Transport patients or assist them to walk, and report medical and care information to nursing staff upon return to the original facility.
Perform basic monitoring and testing functions, such as blood glucose measurements, and remain with patients to perform duties like holding instruments and adjusting lights. Turn and reposition bedfast patients to prevent bedsores, change bed linens, run errands, direct visitors, and answer the telephone. Take and record temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rates, and food and fluid intake and output, as directed.
Care for incontinent patients quickly, ensuring patient and resident cleanliness. Maintain rapid responsiveness to patient and resident needs and requests. Communicate thoroughly and in detail regarding patient and resident subjects, both verbally and in writing. Clean, sterilize, store, prepare, and issue dressing packs, treatment trays, and other supplies. Dust and clean patients' rooms to ensure a positive living environment.
Report all material medical information and patient/resident condition changes to the nurse on duty. Provide snacks and hydration within limits of medical orders. Perform all work duties efficiently and on a timely basis, serving multiple patient and resident needs simultaneously. Evacuate patients and residents during emergencies under the direction of the nurse on duty.
Demonstrate ability to regularly change priorities to accomplish tasks despite frequent interruptions. Clearly communicate, both orally and in writing, while performing essential functions. Perform other special projects and duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED preferred. Arizona State Certification/Licensure as a Nursing Assistant. Prior medical environment work experience is preferred. Current and continuing BLS training.
The Caring House requires an AZ Department of Public Safety Fingerprint Clearance Card. Demonstrate ability to relate to diverse cultures, specifically the Gila River Community and/or other Native American cultures and community health services.
