Employment Specialist

The Arc Services of Macomb Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Supported Employment Coordinator to play a vital role in helping individuals with disabilities achieve their employment goals. As a key member of our Community Support Services department, you will be responsible for creating engaging pre-employment training programs, delivering supported employment services, and coordinating field trips with local schools.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe Supported Employment Coordinator will be responsible for:
- Pre-Employment Training Programs
- Develop and implement targeted curriculum for pre-employment trainings in local schools, in collaboration with Michigan Rehabilitation Services (MRS) coordinators and teachers.
- Deliver instruction to classes based on curriculum.
- Ensure timely billings in compliance with funding sources.
- Supported Employment Services
- Work one-on-one with individuals with disabilities to develop employment plans, explore job placement, and coordinate job coaching support in the community.
- Collaborate with local businesses to develop and maintain integrated and inclusive work sites.
- Support individuals in creating personalized microbusinesses and growing those businesses.
- Ensure all documentation is completed and maintained.
- Field Trips and Community Engagement
- Coordinate field trips with local schools to explore employment options in the Skills Center and through Supported Employment.
- Participate on the Transition Council for local schools to provide information and support in the areas of pre-employment and supported employment.
- Communication and Collaboration
- Maintain effective communication between The Arc and referral/funding sources, as well as with individuals and their representatives.
- Ensure that referral agencies receive adequate reports for services rendered.
- Protect the rights of all individuals by following procedures as mandated by the Office of Recipient Rights and all state and federal guidelines and procedures.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- A minimum of one-year experience in the field of vocational rehabilitation, behavioral programming, or a related field.
- Experience working with people with disabilities.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to independently make decisions.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel for work.
- Working knowledge of computers, internet, and databases.
