As a 155-bed acute care facility accredited by The Joint Commission, Dallas Medical Center provides a comprehensive array of medical services, including around-the-clock emergency care, cardiology, wound management, surgical interventions, cardiac catheterization, and outpatient rehabilitation. Recognized as the sole trauma center in the area, our institution is also a Certified Chest Pain Center, boasting numerous accolades for patient safety and quality care.
Key Responsibilities:
Full-Time - Night Shifts
The Cardiac Monitoring Specialist plays a crucial role in delivering indirect patient care within the department. This position involves monitoring cardiac rhythms through direct cardiac monitoring systems. Responsibilities include:
- Addressing the communication needs of the department.
- Transcribing physician orders when electronic systems are unavailable.
- Ensuring that laboratory and radiology tests are appropriately ordered and completed.
- Compiling and maintaining records in the emergency room.
- Managing supply orders for the unit and preparing necessary documentation for each patient daily.
- Assisting nursing staff with indirect patient care tasks, provided that primary responsibilities for dysrhythmia monitoring are not compromised.
Note: The specialist may provide direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse, contingent upon holding an active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification, demonstrating annual competency in CNA responsibilities, and being relieved of monitoring duties during such assistance.
Qualifications:
Education, Experience, and Training Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent, or relevant experience is required for all new hires.
- Current Dysrhythmia Interpretation Certificate must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained thereafter.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA) is required upon hire and must be kept up to date.
- A minimum of six months of prior experience in healthcare or as a Monitor Technician is preferred.
