Position Overview:
The Telemetry Monitoring Specialist is responsible for overseeing, documenting, and interpreting the electrocardiographic data of patients on telemetry systems. This role involves recognizing and communicating any arrhythmias to the appropriate medical or nursing personnel.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate advanced cardiac monitoring equipment, including ECG rhythm displays and computerized dysrhythmia detection systems.
  • Monitor and document ECG readings in accordance with established protocols, providing critical information such as patient identification, room assignment, cardiac rhythm, and any dysrhythmias or urgent situations.
  • Maintain and service monitoring equipment, reporting any issues to the designated Biomedical personnel.
  • Set up and manage central monitoring stations, ensuring alarms are monitored, false alarms are addressed, and equipment is correctly positioned.
  • Assist in rhythm analysis and dysrhythmia identification, ensuring significant events are accurately recorded on monitor strips.
  • Keep a detailed log of patient cardiac monitoring status throughout their care episode, noting any rhythm changes or patient condition updates.

Essential Qualifications:
  • Enrollment in a relevant educational program to qualify for the Cardiac Rhythm Test within one year if certification is not currently held.
  • Understanding of cardiac anatomy and physiology as it relates to ECG waveforms and interpretations.
  • Familiarity with telemetry services and protocols.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with healthcare team members.
  • Capability to manage frequent interruptions and adapt to varying workloads and schedules.
  • Skill in prioritizing tasks, making critical decisions, and responding promptly to emergencies.
  • Professionalism in handling challenging situations involving patients and healthcare providers.
