We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Landscape Construction Superintendent to join our team at Maldonado Nursery & Landscaping Inc. This is a key leadership role that requires a strong background in landscape construction, hardscape, and irrigation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coaching and evaluating staff and field workers in the performance of landscape services.
  • Supervising multiple landscape and irrigation installation projects of all sizes.
  • Ensuring that all construction services are delivered according to contract specifications, within budget and on schedule.
  • Evaluating project site conditions, including topographies and soil conditions, and reporting to the project manager prior to commencement of work.
  • Managing labor force to ensure labor budgets are on track.
  • Maintaining accurate daily and weekly activity logs, updating production tracking reports, and generating other related reports as needed.
  • Responsible for dispatch of labor and equipment to job sites.
  • Managing equipment utilization on projects, equipment storage, and maintenance.
  • Evaluating employee safety data and promoting safe work practices or conditions.
  • Responsible for recommending staff changes, promotions, wage adjustments, and staffing limits to the Branch/Project Manager.
  • Attending pre-construction meetings with General Contractors and architects onsite before the start of the job.
  • Communicating with the contract administrator and project/branch manager regarding all applicable permits, utility locates, and inspections prior to execution.
  • Confirming that plants are suitable for application as per drawings and specs.
  • Evaluating projects and organizing RFI's if any questions exist that need architect approval.
  • Forwarding information via marked-up plans or written RFI's to the project manager or assistant project manager to be forwarded to the General Contractor for transmission to the architect.
  • Reviewing all plans, specifications, and estimates and bringing any issues regarding materials or budgets to the pre-construction meeting.
  • Organizing material orders and delivery to job sites, ensuring materials are loaded in the morning.
  • Familiarizing oneself with plans, details, and specs prior to the start of the job and pre-ordering materials as needed.
  • Obtaining PO's prior to purchasing anything, providing accurate estimated values when obtaining PO's.
  • Daily collection of all receipts/bills of lading for all materials delivered to projects, properly identifying each ticket with job name, number, and PO.
  • Managing sourcing and procurement for materials on projects, ordering long-lead items as required.
  • Scheduling crews for days and weeks ahead, effectively and efficiently.
  • Ensuring all projects, current or within warranty period, are being maintained and watered properly.
  • Looking for opportunities daily to beat budgets while maintaining quality.
  • Responsible for approving, coding, and submitting material invoices in a timely manner.
  • Conducting in-house walk-throughs upon completion of each job, including assembly and completion of punch-list items in preparation for substantial completion walk-throughs.
  • Submitting all change order information to the Project Manager for submittal to the owner.
  • Verifying crew entries of time daily.
  • Responsible for managing and approving all crews' timesheets and vacation requests.
  • Managing equipment/truck databases and ensuring routine maintenance occurs and is logged.
  • Managing all crews' GPS and driver safety scorecards, providing recommendations to the project manager for any driver warnings and write-ups.
  • Organizing weekly safety toolbox talks with crews and ensuring proper PPE and other safety-related information is presented to all crews.
  • Responsible for ensuring all crews have returned to the office and ensuring all trucks and gates are secured.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of project management/superintendent experience in landscaping construction, hardscape, or irrigation.
  • Speaking Spanish is a plus but not required.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
