Position Overview.

The Senior Communications Strategist plays a crucial role in fostering and enhancing a positive employee experience among internal stakeholders. This is achieved by collaborating with leadership and project teams to create and implement effective strategic communication plans and messages. Additionally, the role involves crafting and disseminating compelling narratives that connect employees to the organization and to each other.

Key Responsibilities.

Internal Communications Planning and Execution:

  • Interprets and conveys business decisions and strategies to ensure clarity and engagement among employees.
  • Leads communication initiatives for sensitive matters, which may involve significant organizational changes. Develops strategies, key messaging documents, and additional content to assist audiences in understanding and supporting these changes while safeguarding confidential information.
  • Contributes to the development of meeting strategies and content for large departmental gatherings, town halls, and business updates.
  • Identifies opportunities for internal storytelling, creating and sharing narratives that engage employees and exemplify the organization's cultural principles.
  • Facilitates the weekly Internal Communications Team meeting and manages the Teams Project Tracker to ensure effective planning and integration across the team, monitoring staff capacity and recommending adjustments as necessary for priority projects.

Technology Solutions Development and Maintenance:

  • Defines business requirements for innovative and cost-effective solutions that empower the Communications Team to deliver both digital and print communications to internal audiences.
  • Acts as the Communications lead for technology implementation projects, ensuring efficient and effective collaboration among team members.
  • Oversees the development and maintenance of content management system protocols, style guides, and content archival processes.

Qualifications.

  • A minimum of five to seven years of relevant experience, with supervisory experience being a plus.
  • A Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, or a related field.
  • Proven experience collaborating with leaders at various levels to design and execute strategic communications initiatives, with the ability to quickly build relationships and establish credibility.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to create clear and concise messages promptly.
  • Experience in writing for diverse media and channels.
  • Proficient in developing and executing internal communication plans and tactics that yield measurable outcomes.
  • Familiarity with strategies for intranet content, digital newsletters, and digital boards.
  • Working knowledge of web technologies, content strategies, and industry trends.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning, managing, and leading complex projects or initiatives, with a keen attention to detail and strong collaboration skills.
