Role Overview:
As a Senior Staff Engineer, you will be an integral part of a dedicated team responsible for the design, modeling, development, and deployment of Quantitative Risk Management (QRM) systems and other applications that support the treasury and financial operations of the bank. You will also engage with various applications and platforms within the Corporate Systems segment, aligning with the strategic objectives of Western Alliance Bank.
The ideal candidate will possess a robust technological background, a pragmatic approach to data engineering, and a strong focus on outcomes while promoting collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Enhance and develop functional capabilities within the Quantitative Risk Management (QRM) system.
  • Support regulatory compliance efforts by updating models and configurations as necessary.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure the integration of QRM with other systems, facilitating smooth data exchange and precise risk evaluations.
  • Oversee the configuration and testing of new product features.
  • Implement strategic architectural modifications.
  • Quickly identify and resolve technical challenges, system bugs, and performance issues within QRM platforms to maintain optimal user experience.
  • Engage with business partners and team members to refine business requirements and operational workflows.
  • Collaborate closely with enterprise data and architecture teams to devise suitable solutions.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 8+ years of development and implementation experience, with at least 4 years in treasury, liquidity/capital risk, or related areas.
  • Proficiency with Windows platforms and experience in building, maintaining, and upgrading QRM environments.
  • Experience with MS SQL Server, including maintenance and disaster recovery tasks, along with expertise in conceptual, logical, and physical data design.
  • Familiarity with design tools for creating conceptual architecture and data flow diagrams, such as Visio or Lucidchart.
  • Experience in developing applications using contemporary programming standards.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of Azure DevOps and ServiceNow.
  • Experience in monitoring and managing applications/systems in a cloud environment and integrating with SaaS applications.
  • Familiarity with ETL platforms is advantageous.
  • Experience in financial modeling and liquidity risk solution implementations.
  • Understanding of financial models within the QRM framework.
  • Knowledge of Windows Events and performance monitoring tools.
