Job Summary

The Staff Geotechnical Engineer will be responsible for creating world-class designs for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments on various projects, including power, process, corporate, healthcare, pipeline airports, institutional, industrial, manufacturing, government, and military facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform geotechnical engineering analyses, design, and evaluation related to shallow and deep foundation systems, settlement analyses, slope stability evaluations, retaining structures, consideration of seismic effects, and earthwork.
  • Prepare and review engineering design calculations, reports, specifications, and construction documents, and other technical documents as needed.
  • Develop work scopes, subsurface exploration oversight, and management of site investigation subcontracts.
  • Support field assignments associated with site investigation activities and in support of foundation and earthwork construction activities.
  • Perform geotechnical design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion.
  • Modify and review production drawings for various projects, including power plants, electric transmission and distribution, process facilities, industrial facilities, healthcare facilities, airports, educational institutions, commercial, and governmental and military facilities.
  • Design geotechnical components for project needs and requirements set forth by project managers.
  • Apply strong knowledge of commonly used geotechnical concepts, practices, codes, and procedures within the geotechnical engineering services industry.
  • Research and compile project-related data as required by project managers.
  • Update drawings provided by senior engineers to verify corrections are made within multiple CAD-related software.
  • Compile information for client presentations, shop drawing review, and contract administration for the design of power, process, industrial, healthcare, airports, educational institutions, commercial, and governmental and military facilities.
  • Perform field inspections, measurements, or calculations for public and private clients.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Geological or Civil Engineering or related degree from an ABET-accredited program, and 3 years of experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Geological or Civil or related Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program, and successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, and 3 years of experience.
  • Master's Degree in Geotechnical Engineering or related degree from an ABET-accredited program, and 2 years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Engineers in Training (EIT) Certification.
