Position Overview and Requirements

  • Conduct diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in Nuclear Medicine.
  • Manage the ordering, preparation, calibration, storage, and administration of radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Perform quality assurance checks on imaging equipment and instruments.
  • Utilize radiation detection instruments effectively.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in computer systems relevant to the field (e.g., Meditech, PACS, Syntrac).
  • Ensure precise billing and confirm physician directives.
  • Oversee computer processing tasks.
  • Conduct routine inventory assessments of radioactive sealed sources.
  • Assist in the upkeep of departmental documentation, manuals, and supplies.
  • Implement decontamination protocols as necessary.
  • Support the maintenance and cleanliness of the department.
  • Manage phone communications and interact with patients, healthcare providers, and the public.
  • Stay current with continuing education requirements.

Experience Requirements

Preferred: A minimum of one year of experience in the role of a nuclear medicine technologist is preferred, though recent graduates are encouraged to apply.

Educational Background

Required: Must be a graduate of an AMA-accredited School of Nuclear Medicine Technology. ARRT-N or CNMT licensure is mandatory. Ongoing education is essential for maintaining licensure.

Licensure and Certification

Required: Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technology or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board is necessary.

Required: Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association is also required.
