Requirements:
- Associate Degree in Radiation Therapy or relevant Certification.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Staff Therapist in a Radiation Therapy setting, with proficiency in linear accelerators and patient simulation.
- American Registered Radiologic Technologist certification required upon commencement.
- Basic Life Support certification from AHA required upon commencement.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Virginia License is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities:
- Effectively communicate with patients, families, medical personnel, and healthcare team members.
- Administer treatment modalities and protocols to accurately set up and deliver radiation treatments daily.
- Conduct simulation procedures for initial patient setup while ensuring the proper functioning of linear accelerators, simulators, and Computed Tomography machines.
- Maintain precise records of daily treatments and other necessary documentation; document any modifications in charts due to changes in the prescribed treatment course.
- Ensure portal verification films are captured at appropriate intervals; recognize the need for adjustments in treatment ports when comparing simulation/portal films or patient positions; prepare immobilization devices per physician prescriptions.
- Position patients for the initial definition of tumor volume as determined by physicians; capture films of specified treatment volume for physician review and approval.
- Mark/tattoo appropriate body anatomy for daily repositioning on the linear accelerator; document or capture patient measurements and machine treatment parameters for dosimetry planning and calculations; acquire Computed Tomography machine data sets for patient positioning, contours, and setup parameters.
- Attend departmental in-services, conferences, and meetings; stay updated on new technologies in the field and assist in developing new techniques through participation in research projects or educational demonstrations; demonstrate knowledge of departmental treatment modalities and protocols in scheduling, setup, and patient treatment.
- Perform daily quality assurance on linear accelerators, simulators, and Computed Tomography machines to verify accurate output of designated parameters; report erratic equipment operation to physics; verify emergency shutoff and interlock operations; report any discrepancies to physics.
- Participate in or assist with in-vivo dosimetry measurements and special dosimetry tasks.
- May perform additional duties as assigned.
