CDD is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting individuals with developmental disabilities in their residences across the Kansas City Metropolitan area. With over 50 years of experience, we aim to expand our reach significantly. As a Residential Specialist, your responsibilities will include:
  • Coordinating and transporting individuals to necessary medical appointments;
  • Conducting visits to assigned locations at least twice weekly, or more frequently as required;
  • Reviewing daily shift notes in Therap to stay informed of necessary actions at locations;
  • Ensuring all medication adjustments are properly documented;
  • Securing timely medical treatment for illnesses or injuries;
  • Maintaining daily communication with staff to ensure consistency in addressing individual needs both verbally and in communication logs;
  • Supervising and scheduling adequate staff to meet required staffing ratios;
  • Documenting staff attendance and leave time; reviewing electronic timekeeping records for accuracy and approving hours worked;
  • Submitting staff evaluations promptly;
  • Being on-call and adjusting schedules as necessary to meet individual needs;
  • Overseeing individual financial expenditures and maintaining necessary records;
  • Coordinating maintenance and ensuring compliance with the agency's Physical Facilities and Safety Policy;
  • Facilitating monthly program meetings at each site;
  • Providing companionship, emotional support, crisis intervention, and behavioral counseling to individuals;


You would likely excel in this role if you possess the following qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Bachelor's degree in education, rehabilitation, social or behavioral sciences preferred;
  • 1-2 years of supervisory experience with individuals with developmental disabilities;
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record
  • Ability to complete medication administration, adult CPR, and First Aid training
  • Access to a personal vehicle and car insurance
  • Experience in the developmental disabilities sector
  • Capability to lift 10 pounds consistently, 20 pounds frequently, and up to 50 pounds occasionally
