POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Patient Access Representative plays a crucial role in facilitating the check-in and check-out procedures for patients, staff, and healthcare providers. This position also involves managing appointment scheduling and maintaining patient records. The representative is responsible for providing essential information to patients, ensuring they can effectively utilize the services offered by the clinic, while also projecting a welcoming and professional image of the facility.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Welcoming patients and visitors in a friendly, efficient, and supportive manner.
  • Processing patient check-ins and check-outs, confirming current details and collecting updated information and necessary documentation.
  • Entering patient insurance details and related documents into the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.
  • Collecting payments, issuing receipts, and accurately applying copayments or coinsurance to patient accounts.
  • Reconciling daily charges and fees incurred at the office and preparing deposits.
  • Coordinating follow-up appointments as needed.
  • Assisting with incoming calls, screening inquiries, taking messages, and effectively communicating information to patients, their families, and referring physician offices.
  • Collaborating with clinical staff to ensure seamless patient care and clinic workflow.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work and reception area at all times.
  • Managing the distribution of faxes and mail.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates should possess the following:

  • A High School diploma or GED, or equivalent experience.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a Medical Receptionist role.
  • 1-2 years of experience in insurance verification.
