About this Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Data Scientist to join our team at Wells Fargo Bank. As a key member of our Consumer Model Development CoE, you will play a pivotal role in leading the development and implementation of cutting-edge Generative AI (GenAI) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) solutions within our Consumer LOB's - Banking, Lending, and WIM divisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Model Development: Design, develop, and deploy GenAI and NLP models for various consumer-facing applications, ensuring scalability and robustness.
  • Translate Business Problems into Technical Solutions: Leverage advanced GenAI/NLP/ML methodologies to translate business problems into technical solutions, driving end-to-end solution design and development.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work with cross-functional teams to integrate AI solutions into business processes, ensuring seamless integration and effective communication.
  • Mentorship and Technical Guidance: Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior data scientists, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and growth.
  • Engage with Business Stakeholders: Communicate insights, model outcomes, and the strategic value of AI initiatives to business stakeholders, ensuring alignment and buy-in.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal risk management policies, maintaining a strong risk mitigating and compliance-driven culture.
Requirements
  • Quantitative Analytics Experience: 7+ years of experience in quantitative analytics, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education.
  • Master's Degree or Higher: Master's degree or higher in a quantitative discipline such as mathematics, statistics, engineering, physics, economics, or computer science.
  • Generative AI Expertise: Demonstrated expertise in Generative AI, including large language models, Generative AI frameworks, and advanced NLP techniques, with a proven track record of leading GenAI projects from conception to production.
Desired Qualifications
  • Quantitative Field Expertise: Master's degree in a quantitative field such as Computer or Data Science.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Python, PySpark, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or Vertex AI.
  • Business Acumen: Strong background in GenAI/NLP, machine learning, deep learning, and statistical analysis, with experience in the financial services industry, particularly within consumer banking, lending, wealth, and asset management.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with regulatory and compliance considerations in AI model deployment.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Full Stack Data Science Skills: Strong full stack data science skills, with a track record of published research or patents in AI/ML.

  • Travel Requirements: Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
