Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Audiologist to join our team at Pacific University. As a Staff Audiologist, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care, conducting audiological evaluations, and developing treatment plans to address hearing and balance-related issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer audiological evaluations to collect information on type and degree of hearing loss, using specialized instruments and equipment.
  • Evaluate diagnostic findings to determine diagnoses and courses of treatment.
  • Use medical diagnostic techniques within the scope of an Audiologist.
  • Document findings and progress within the patient's electronic medical record and report to the appropriate personnel.
  • Conduct candidacy evaluations and provide fitting and follow-up services for patients seeking implantable hearing devices.
  • Identify the communication needs of patients.
  • Counsel and instruct patients in techniques to effectively manage hearing impairment, referring patients for additional medical or educational services as needed.
  • Plan and conduct treatment programs (hearing and balance) for patients, consulting with physicians, nurses, psychologists, and other health care personnel as necessary.
  • Recommend and fit earmolds, hearing aids, and assistive devices according to patients' needs and nature of impairment, providing and documenting appropriate follow-up support.
  • Counsel patients regarding hearing conservation and dispense hearing protection devices as appropriate.
  • Administer balance and falls risk evaluations. Analyze results and report findings to the requesting physician.
  • Use effective interpersonal communication techniques.
  • Communicate technical information regarding hearing or balance-related topics to physicians and other professionals.
  • Work in a cooperative manner with management/supervision, coworkers, patients, and vendors.
  • Provide direct patient care and student supervision for approximately 75% of workload.
  • Assume responsibility for a given patient's care as necessary when the audiologist-of-record cannot be reached.
Requirements
  • Have and maintain a current audiology license from the state of Oregon, or eligible for such license and must obtain prior to hire date (as required by state of Oregon).
  • Earned Doctor of Audiology (AuD) degree, and/or research doctorate degree (e.g., PhD) in audiology or hearing/balance science required.
  • Have and maintain a National Provider Identifier (NPI) or obtain an NPI prior to start date.
  • Current CPR or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Minimum of three years, broad-scope clinical experience as an audiologist preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience with students desirable.
  • Professional certification in audiology from the American Board of Audiology and/or the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (CCC-A) desirable.
  • Proficiency or fluency in Spanish desirable.
Working Conditions

Typical office and audiology clinic environment, with routine computer- and paper-based work requirements, plus frequent handling of audiologic equipment, materials, and supplies.

Includes occasional travel to other clinical sites.

Includes occasional evening and weekend work requirements to support the work of the Pacific EarClinic and the School of Audiology.
