Recreational Therapist

About This Role

CoxHealth is seeking a skilled Recreational Therapist to join our team. As a key member of our interdisciplinary healthcare team, you will provide supportive advocacy to patients and their families to overcome barriers to progression-of-care and facilitate a safe and coordinated discharge to the community.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide therapeutic recreation services to patients and their families, including individual and group activities, to promote physical, emotional, and social well-being.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient-centered care plans.
• Conduct assessments and evaluations to identify patient needs and develop strategies to address them.
• Develop and implement programs to promote patient engagement, education, and empowerment.
• Provide education and support to patients and their families on healthy lifestyle choices and disease management.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Leisure Studies with emphasis on recreational therapy or Certified Therapeutic Recreational Specialist (CTRS)
• Experience: Previous experience in mental health or age-specific population preferred
• Skills: Good communication skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to maintain organization in a changing environment, and ability to initiate and understand research related to projects.
