Job Summary:

As a Water Safety Instructor with the Detroit Lakes Community and Cultural Center, you will report directly to the Fitness and Aquatic Director. Your primary responsibilities will include instructing youth and adults on water safety, creating daily and weekly lesson plans, and attending staff meetings and trainings. You will also be responsible for maintaining current certifications, addressing parent and guardian concerns, and providing leadership and direction to Water Safety Assistants.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Instructing water safety classes to youth and adults
  • Developing and implementing daily and weekly lesson plans
  • Attending staff meetings and trainings to stay up-to-date on best practices
  • Maintaining current certifications, including American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification
  • Addressing parent and guardian concerns and issues in a positive and friendly manner
  • Providing leadership and direction to Water Safety Assistants
Compensation and Qualifications:

Hourly rate of pay will be dependent on certifications and experience. Increases in rate of pay will be based on an employee evaluation conducted by the Fitness and Aquatic Director. Applicants must hold current certification with the American Red Cross as a Water Safety Instructor. Lifeguard Training and CPR are preferred.
