Job Summary:

We're seeking a talented Bakery Department Leader to join our team at Smith's Food and Drug. As a key member of our bakery team, you'll be responsible for leading a team of associates to deliver outstanding customer service, achieve sales and profit goals, and maintain a safe and clean environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of associates to provide exceptional customer service and achieve sales and profit goals.
  • Develop and implement effective scheduling strategies to manage customer volume and ensure adequate staffing.
  • Train and develop associates on performance of their job and participate in the performance appraisal process.
  • Monitor and control expenses for the department, including inventory management and equipment maintenance.
  • Partner with store management to develop and implement a department business plan to achieve desired results.
  • Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads and inform associates of the same.
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines, including proper temperatures of food, cases, and coolers.
  • Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions and notifying store management.
  • Practice preventive maintenance by properly inspecting equipment and notifying appropriate personnel of any items in need of repair.
Requirements:
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Knowledge of basic math.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations.
  • Current food handlers permit once employed.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Management experience.
  • Bakery experience.
