Job Overview

Alpla Inc. is a leading global packaging solutions provider seeking a skilled Downstream Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth installation, maintenance, and training of downstream equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the installation and maintenance of downstream equipment to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement new layouts and processes, providing technical expertise and guidance as needed.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to maintenance and operations personnel on new equipment, ensuring they have the necessary skills to operate and maintain the equipment effectively.
  • Work closely with plant personnel to ensure they can independently maintain newly installed production lines, minimizing downtime and improving overall productivity.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and implement projects to enhance performance and meet plant KPI goals.
  • Develop and document setup processes to ensure repeatable results, including step-by-step instructions and documentation.
Requirements
  • 2-year technical degree in Industrial, Electrical, or Packaging Engineering.
  • 3 years of experience in a similar field, with a strong background in packaging equipment and operations.
  • Experience with a variety of packaging equipment, including robot station palletizers, automated sorting systems, bottle label applicators, carton erectors, vision systems, and more.
  • Basic project management skills and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven track record of training hourly employees and proficiency in using AutoCAD and computer applications such as PowerPoint, Excel, and Access.
Physical Demands
  • The physical demands of this role include standing, walking, reaching, and occasional climbing or balancing.
  • Frequent use of hands to handle, feel, or finger, as well as stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
  • Occasional sitting and regular lifting of up to 10 pounds, frequent lifting of up to 30 pounds, and occasional lifting of more than 50 pounds.
  • Close vision is required for this role.
