Job Summary: As a Certified Medical Assistant at MUSC Community Physicians, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting a decentralized patient-centered approach.

About the Role: We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Certified Medical Assistant to join our team. Your primary responsibilities will include interviewing patients, measuring vital signs, and recording information to their medical records. You will also prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients, assist with basic computer skills, and maintain annual competencies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Annual competencies are required to be maintained.

Requirements: To be successful in this role, you must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, completion of an accredited medical assisting program, and one year of patient care experience preferred. Additionally, you must be certified through the American Medical Technologist (AMT) or American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or National Health career Association (NHA) or MedCA as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP). A Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is also required.

Working Conditions: This role requires the ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, working indoors, working outside in temperature extremes, working from elevated areas, working in confined/cramped spaces, performing job functions from kneeling positions, bending at the waist, twisting at the waist, squatting and performing job functions, performing 'pinching' operations, performing gross motor activities with fingers and hands, performing firm grasping with fingers and hands, performing fine manipulation with fingers and hands, reaching overhead, performing repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders, fully using both legs, using lower extremities for balance and coordination, reaching in all directions, lifting and carrying 50 lbs unassisted, lifting/lowering objects 50 lbs from/to floor from/to 36 inches unassisted, lifting from 36'' to overhead 25 lbs, exerting up to 50 lbs of force.
