Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced IT Infrastructure Specialist to join our team at General Dynamics Information Technology. As an IT Infrastructure Specialist, you will be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining computer systems, networks, and other IT infrastructure components.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain computer systems, networks, and other IT infrastructure components
  • Perform routine network activities and identify and resolve routine network problems
  • Travel to customer sites up to 50% of the time, sometimes with short notice
  • Understand basic Cisco router/switch commands and can program initial network gear setups
  • Work independently and with other IT teams without supervision
  • Travel on short notice when required
  • Understand desktop system troubleshooting and imaging techniques
  • Conduct hardware infrastructure site surveys, planning, and design
  • Make recommendations on hardware, cabling, and equipment requirements
  • Provide installation management, including creating lists of materials, bills of materials, estimating installation project timelines, determining installation team requirements, successfully executing installation projects, and documenting project status
  • Plan, build, and install cable patch panels and cable infrastructures
  • Install and terminate all types of standard IT cable and fiber
  • Provide equipment rack installation and equipment installations within various locations, including data centers, equipment rooms, communications closets, operations centers, and user workspaces
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with network infrastructure and/or components
  • Recommend changes and/or technology upgrades to address performance, standardization, and industry best practices

Requirements:

  • Associate's degree with 7 years of experience, or Bachelor's degree with 5 years of experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in network troubleshooting and support
  • Comprehensive knowledge of routers, switches, patch panels, concentrators, associated terminals, and related network hardware and software
  • Comprehensive knowledge of desktop operating systems and applications
  • Security Clearance Level: TS/SCI
  • Required Certification(s): DoD M IAT Level II/8140 Computing Environment (CE) Certification, IAT II 8570/8140 Baseline Certification Security+, and Computing Environment (CE) certification: CCNA

Additional Information:

  • Candidates must be willing and able to attain a CI Polygraph for certain positions as determined by the contract
  • Position may require lifting of objects (i.e. IT hardware), reaching/bending/kneeling (i.e. plug in cables) and other moderately strenuous activity
  • Travel may be required to support the mission
