Sky-Hi News, a leading news organization in Grand County, is seeking an experienced reporter to join our team. As a reporter for Sky-Hi News, you will be responsible for covering a wide range of topics, including government, public safety, recreation, business, and sustainability.

We are looking for a skilled journalist who can produce high-quality, engaging content that informs and entertains our readers. If you have a passion for storytelling and a strong work ethic, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.

Responsibilities
  • Generate seven stories per week, including news articles, feature stories, and human-interest pieces.
  • Take photos and videos to accompany your stories and enhance the reader experience.
  • Effectively use social media tools to source stories, cover trending news, and engage with our audience.
  • Work closely with community leaders, figures, and other newsroom staff to gather information and insights.
  • Be flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • Ensure accuracy, fairness, and correct spelling in all reporting.
  • Follow the direction and vision of the Sky-Hi News editor.
  • Meet assigned deadlines without exception.
  • Be a team player and fill in for reporting vacancies as needed.
  • Act with ethics and integrity, adhering to the guidelines set by the editor.
Requirements
  • A degree in journalism, English, or communications is required, but can be waived with daily newsroom experience.
  • One year of newsroom experience is preferred.
  • Must be available to work some nights and weekends.
