Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Anesthesia Technician to join our team at Advocate Health. As an Anesthesia Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Equipment Setup and Maintenance: Set up and maintain monitoring equipment in the operating room, including the operating table, autotransfusion system, electrocardiograph (ECG), and temperature cables.
  • Assisting during Surgical Procedures: Assist in the insertion of arterial pressure lines, central venous and Swan-Ganz catheter insertion, and draw arterial and/or venous blood samples for diagnostic testing.
  • Calibration and Quality Control: Calibrate all pressures and recording systems within the patient monitoring system to ensure precise readings.
  • Patient Transfer and Data Management: Assist in transfers of patients to and from the operating room, collect data sheets, and transport them with the patient.
  • Equipment Cleaning and Maintenance: Clean all non-disposable equipment after each procedure and perform daily maintenance checks.
  • Supply Management: Maintain an adequate supply of necessary equipment and supplies, including needles, syringes, air-ways, endotracheal tube (ET) tubes, scopes, and blades.
  • Troubleshooting and Equipment Repair: Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions or failures and take necessary steps to promptly return the equipment to a safe and reliable operating condition.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Graduate.
  • Experience: Typically requires 1 year of experience in a surgical, medical, or related healthcare setting.
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to stand the majority of the workday, sit, walk, and lift throughout.
  • Environmental Factors: Exposed to chemical and radiation hazards and as a result, protective clothing must be worn as necessary.
